MAC Russian Red Lipstick

Last week I popped into my local department store and as usual, I went straight to the beauty hall. I had a £50 gift card left unspent from Christmas so I thought 'why not buy something I want instead of something I need' (I use the term 'need' very  loosely). As I scanned row after row of different eye shadows, I decided that a lipstick was the object of my desire and my eyes settled upon Russian Red instantly.

I have MAC's Viva Glam Cyndi which is a much more sheer, glossy red and while it packs a punch - it is nothing compared to  Russian Red. It is a perfect true red with a blue undertone which is a must for me when buying red lipstick. The blue undertone doesn't make your teeth have that horrible dirty tint which the yellow based reds do. It has good staying power too, the intense colour lasts on me for a good 3+ hours and almost stains the lips once it starts to wear off so the fading isn't as obvious.
The only negative side to this product is that as it is a matte formula, it can feel a little dry after you've had the lipstick on for a while. I just make sure I apply a balm before I put the lipstick on and this usually helps to alleviate the dryness.

Do you have a go-to red lipstick?

thisworks Deep Sleep Pillow Talk

thisworks Deep Sleep Pillow Talk - £20.00
I first heard about this range in Ruth Crilly's (AModelRecommends) hibernate video, this video was totally up my street and it's definitely worth a watch if you haven't seen it! Having M.E. means that I really need to make time for deep, productive sleep - I can't stay up later than 11:30 or I am useless the next day. Recently I have been having trouble sleeping and my illness has been causing me some hassle so, what could I do? I needed this product, honestly...

It's so simple and easy too, it takes up no time at all. I snuggle into my bed, spritz the spray onto my pillow and rub the stress less roller ball onto my wrists and I'm set for bed! The scent of "Lavender, Vetivert and Wild Camomile" totally relaxes and soothes me, I just close my eyes and focus on inhaling the gorgeous fragrance.

I'm not sure if it a placebo effect or not, but I'm sure this works, (oh, that's where they got the name from!) I really do seem to sleep better each time I use it. Price wise, I think that £20 for two products isn't bad at all and I would definitely repurchase these products again and recommend them to anyone who wants a bedtime treat.

If you've tried these products out, please let me know what you think!

Snowflakes keep falling on my head...

Will I ever grow up? That is a question I ask myself every time it snows. The rush of excitement when you see the weather forecast and you see those little pictures of snowflakes fluttering over your hometown. I love waking up really early and peeking out of my curtains to see a thick, fluffy blanket of snow! Don't even get me started on coats, wellies and knitwear!

As you may of guessed from my little outburst there, there is snow falling as I type. Much of the UK has had snow over the past week but my town has managed to miss most of it! It snowed the other day but it was more like a dusting of icing sugar - luckily I took a few snaps before it was all washed away by rain. I was being all posey and trying out my new Enrapture Extremity Heated Rollers - I'm thinking of reviewing them soon so if that sounds interesting then please say!

As a quick side note, I would just like to say how saddened I was to hear about the passing of Alice Pyne this week. If you don't know of Alice, she was a beautiful teenage girl from the UK who had terminal cancer, a year or so ago she made a bucket list and her blog went viral within days. I found her quite early on in her blogging quest and watched as she ticked each one of her dreams off. She was a truly lovely girl who inspired me greatly, I think twice before moaning about trivial things now. I really hope that she is at peace and I send all my wishes to her family.

Hope everyone is safe and having fun in the snow (if you have any) and I will be back soon with a post about thisworks Deep Sleep Pillow Talk. Also, BIG hello to my new followers :)!

Goodbye 2012!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Yeah... I guess I'm a bit late to the party but I hope you all had a great Christmas and start to 2013 anyway! This post is going to be a catch up chat so grab a cup of tea and get comfy :).

I hate to start off my first post of 2013 with a moan but it is kind of an explanation to why I haven't posted since September. I have been really struggling with sixth form and especially the art course I'm taking - when I say struggling, I mean I HATE it. I tried to leave sixth form but that didn't work out so at the moment I'm just plodding along. A large factor of this art problem is that my illness (which you can read about here) has been really playing up with all the stress so that's a bit poo! Another health change is that I'm now a gluten free girl! Pretty much the whole of my Mum's family is allergic to gluten (and my boyfriend too which is handy!) so when I started feeling ill, we had a good idea what could be causing it. So expect some gluten free cooking posts from now on :).

In October, my boyfriend and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary. It was so lovely, we just chilled out and went to the cinema and had a gluten free domino's! So many people find it strange that we've been together for so long due to our age but it's just so normal to us, we've been best friends since we were 13.

I celebrated my 18th birthday in late November, it was great fun and I had a party with all my friends and we danced the night away. I got a tonne of lovely presents, everyone went so overboard! I felt super spoiled but this means I need to save up like crazy so I can repay the favour! My boyfriend and
his parents joined forces and took me to the Cologne Christmas markets as my birthday present (TOTALLY AMAZING BOYFRIEND ALERT) and it was so magical. I got lots of beautiful hand crafted gifts and it was just lovely seeing all the lights, Christmas trees and beautifully decorated gingerbread.

Christmas this year was really lovely, I spent half the day with my family, then half the day at my boyfriend's with his family. As usual, we ate way too much and just spent the day just enjoying everyone's company. Christmas is my favourite time of year, it just so lovely to just stay home, get all dressed up and just be with the people you love the most.

Now that 2012 is over, I have began to think about my New Years resolutions. I have a few cliche ones like - get fit and healthy, get organised and don't procrastinate. But my main one is just to enjoy life more :).

What are your resolutions and have you stuck to them so far?

On a side note, I've just painted my nails with Essie's Leading Lady after seeing it on my friend Emily's post, the colour is so gorgeous. If you have a spare moment, please go and check out Emily's blog as she's so lovely and has nail skills which put mine to utter shame.

Phew - that was a long one! If you managed to get this far then give yourself a big pat on the back, you deserve it :).

PS - Thank you so much to the lovely girl, Chloe who emailed me, I'm sorry it's taken me so long to reply. I love it when I get emails from you guys, otherwise I just feel like I'm talking to myself over the internet haha!
